Connectivism

The network hasn't changed the way I learn.  I have gotten better at networking and using one group to another. I have realized that everything is interconnected and interwoven one way or another.  The tools that I absolutely LOVE, are the social networking sites such as Facebook, and sites that facilitate higher order thinking: Blogs!  These two sites have so much potential for learning new material, it's unbelievable.  If I want to share some new knowledge with others, all I have to do is log into Facebook, and post it online for everyone in my network to view.  Same thing with blogs-- if I have something to share with people, all I do is just log on, post, and tag the words people are interested in.  Networking these days is the key to getting ahead personally, academically, and professionally.  If you don't have the proper networks set in place, you will be going nowhere fast!

  1. I love facebook too, but I have had to cut back a lot...since narrowing down my friend lists helped a lot, now I don't have to go through all those posts of people I don't really know or don't care about!!

  2. I have to admit I am a Facebook junkie. I use it to keep in touch with family, fellow teachers, new friends, and old friends. I love being able to share in their events via pictures and posts. when I am not able to be there in person. I am very careful as to who I let in my "friend group". Some people just want to be nosey.
However I have changed the way I learn with the use of communication tools. I like to look at blogs to see what "real teachers in the field" have to say about different issues. Often times the people who are making the rules are too far removed from the classroom to fully understand what the impact will be in everyday learning. What looks good on paper does not always work in the field.
